UIS Commission on Karst Hydrogeology and Speleogenesis

Dear colleague,

This message is to invite you to submit an abstract to the session ?Geomorphology and Hazards in Karst Areas?.

The session is included in the Natural Hazards Program (no. NH8.2) and in the Geomorphology Program  (no. GM8.8) of the General Assembly of the European Geosciences Union (EGU), to be held in Vienna (Austria) from May 02 to 07, 2010.

I am organizing the session along with Jo De Waele from the University of Bologna, Francisco Gutierrez from the University of Zaragoza and Lukas Plan from the Natural History Museum of Vienna.

The Abstract Deadline is January 18, 2010, and abstracts should be submitted through the EGU website at

Info on the Geomorphology and Hazards in Karst Areas session is at:

The website also contains detailed information about the meeting. More information in

Every year, we publish a selection of the contribution presented as a Special Issue of an international journal (Natural Hazards and Earth System Sciences; special publication of the Geological Society of London; Engineering Geology; Geomorphology; Environmental Geology; Zeitschrift fur Geomorphologie).

Next year we have the intention to prepare a special issue on karst geomorphology and hazards in one of the major peer reviewed geomorphological or speleological journals, selecting around 20 of the most representative papers presented during the sessions.
