nip
An undercutting notch in rock, particularly limestone, along a seacoast between high and low tide levels along sea coasts and produced by solution and erosion. Most common along coasts with limited tidal variation [20]. Synonyms: (French.) resserrement, etranglement; (German.) Kliff ?, Brandungsmarke; (Greek.) kato engopi vrachou; (Italian.) solco di battigia; (Spanish.) socavacion marina; (Turkish.) dalga yarigi centigi.
